Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

The realisation that there are millions of people around the world who do not, and may not, have access to adequate housing without some form of assistance is what has served as the central focus of Habitat for Humanity's mission statement.

Habitat for Humanity International is a non-governmental, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, building simple, decent affordable homes with poor people in need in over 100 countries around the world. The organisation has built and renovated over 400,000 houses sice its inception serving more than 2 million people worldwide and plans to serve many more in the next 5 years. This rapid growth in Habitat for Humanity's ministry is fuelled by the appeal of its approach, the effectiveness of its programme, and the generosity of millions of individuals, churches, foundations, governments and corporations around the world.

Habitat for Humanity Ghana (HFHG) was started in 1987, currently operates in 65 affiliates and has built over 7000 houses in 135 communities countrywide. HFHG uses the community managed affiliate concept where committees made up of local volunteers manage each affiliate. The partnership between HFHG and the local communities as well as other stakeholders facilitates the achievement of the goal of providing shelter for needy families.
