Praying for the work of Habitat for Humanity Ghana (HFHG)

Volunteering with the Habitat program either as:

  • an Individual Volunteer
  • a Corporate Partner
  • a member of A Global Village Team
  • as a member of an International Volunteer Programme.

  • Theresa Akwaboah

Theresa Akwaboah Akwaboah lives with her husband and three children, Alex Akwaboah (17), Afua Kesewa (9), and Charles (6). She works as a teaching attendant at Froebel Educational Center in Patase.

. She heard about Habitat through a friend while sewing at Santasa. Before becoming a Habitat homeowner, this family rented a chamber and hall from Ade?beba. Their income was insufficient to properly maintain it.

. They had to share a public bathroom with stagnant water, which was close to their house and therefore a health hazard. This was one of the reasons why they were willing to work so hard for a Habitat house.

“The best part of our new Habitat house is having a toilet and bath to ourselves giving us the privacy we have always wanted” she says, beaming with smiles. “ We wouldn’t ever leave our Habitat house, we plan to add more rooms in the future”. Being Habitat homeowners makes the family very proud. They are thankful to the volunteers who come to help build and hope that they come often because they hasten the work.
