"My experience with HFHG made my vacation a fruitful one.I guess I can say that I'll take what I've acquired here and put it to use in the future in whatever way I can.
It was a normal Monday morning, June 20th 2005 and I woke up knowing that it was the beginning of a new experience, which was to last for the next six weeks. Before I got to the Habitat for Humanity Ghana National Office, I was nervous. As this was the first time I was doing any form of work in my twenty-one years.
I was welcomed with a smile at the reception and ushered to the Resource Development Department where I would be working. My first week was very interesting as I was involved in organizing a build day dubbed, "Women's Build", which was the first in Ghana. This took place on the next Saturday and I really enjoyed myself that day. To say, I was eager to get to the office the next working day would be a lie because of the aftermath of pain in my muscles. But I made it there and I must say, it was worth all the pain.
I was also involved in various tasks during the subsequent weeks. My experience with HFHG made my vacation a fruitful one in that I acquired skills in article writing and resource management, just to mention a few. I also learnt firsthand what goes on behind the scenes during event organisation as well as the ups and downs of institutions.
I guess I can say that I'll take what I've acquired here and put it to use in the future in whatever way I can. I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation to all staff of HFHG for the hospitality shown me during my stay, which had to end on 29th July 2005, as I had to prepare to go back to school.
